Ranch Information

ALLEN‘S DIAMOND FOUR RANCH is located in the rugged Wind River Mountain Range and is Wyoming’s highest wilderness guest ranch offering log cabins, mountain trail riding, fly fishing, wilderness pack trips, and hunting in Shoshone National Forest. The Allen‘s Diamond 4 Ranch lies at the edge of the Popo Agie Wilderness area where sparkling mountain lakes, lush meadows, glaciers and pristine forests are right outside your log cabin porch. At this hidden gem we take only a small number of guests so you are assured a personalized ranch experience. With no weekly schedule to follow, activities are planned with each group and include daily riding, hiking, fishing, and wildlife watching. The only “crowds and noise” are the horses thundering into the corral each morning. Meals are family style with the wranglers. Overnight pack trips can be an additional adventure option. Rustic comfort, western hospitality and friendly staff make the Diamond 4 Ranch perfect for families, small groups or individuals, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Rustic comfort, western hospitality and friendly staff make the Diamond 4 Ranch perfect for your summer vacation! Your stay in a cozy handcrafted log cabin includes family style meals in the lodge, daily horseback riding, wild trout fishing, natural history hikes and wildlife watching. Children age 6 and older are welcome and encouraged to participate in all ranch activities with their parents. Overnight wilderness pack trips are also available as an upgrade. You may also explore the nearby Wind River Indian Reservation, historic gold mining towns, Yellowstone Park or go white water rafting. Friendly and informal, the Diamond 4 Ranch has only 4 guest cabins, assuring you a personalized and relaxing wilderness experience.

Allen‘s Diamond Four Ranch is the perfect place for a family vacation, a summer retreat or a mountain getaway. Since 1973, the Allen family has owned and operated the ranch with their staff of friendly wranglers. Jim’s grandfather was also a dude rancher and outfitter here during the 1920’s and 1930’s. You can rely on the Allen‘s to provide a memorable wilderness vacation.

Riding is the primary recreational activity, but fishing, hiking, wildlife viewing, roping the fake cow, and riding bareback are also fun. We assign a guide to your group or family to personalize your daily ranch vacation itinerary. Since we are Wyoming’s highest and most remote dude ranch, we are off the grid. We are proud of the rustic comfort we provide guests in each painstakingly handcrafted log cabin. The Diamond 4 Ranch is small, yet friendly with propane lights, sink and heater in each cozy cabin with shower house nearby. Daylight lasts until bedtime during the summer ranch vacation season. After dinner, we often enjoy conversation on the porch of the main lodge while viewing spectacular alpine sunsets over towering snowcapped peaks. The nightly horse stampede is also exciting as 70 horses thunder through the corral gate to graze unfenced mountain meadows.

Experience our unique wilderness hospitality and the mountain grandeur that can only be enjoyed far away from noisy highways and crowded civilization. The stars at night, you will be in awe at the vast expanse of the milky way. With no distraction of town lights, the skies become a stargazers paradise. What better way to spend time and create lasting memories with your family.
