Ranch Information

The Vee Bar is located at the base of the Snowy Range Mountains, west of Laramie, WY, about three hours north of Denver, CO.  The Vee Bar is known for its family-friendly atmosphere and great riding program.  The Vee Bar does not take more than 30 guests per week so there is plenty of room for one-on-one attention and special requests are welcomed.  The Vee Bar’s horseback riding program is second to none.  Ride through the Vee Bar meadows, in the mountains, on the wide open plains, across rivers, and more!  There is no head-to-tail riding, and loping rides are offered.  There are horses for all levels of riders, and a safety-conscious team of wranglers to guide you during your Wyoming adventure!  Guided hiking, a geology tour, world-class fly-fishing, river tubing, evening entertainment, a wagon ride, a cook-out, and trap shooting are some of the other activities offered at the Vee Bar.  Kids will find all kinds of adventure while visiting the ranch!  The Vee Bar offers a kids program for kids 6 and younger.  Older kids can ride on the trails, enjoy games, play in wide open spaces, learn about ranch life and horses, hike in the mountains, and much more.  “Bored” is not in our vocabulary!  The Vee Bar chef, Dale, has been at the Vee Bar for several years.  He is happy to accommodate special diet requests and you will not leave hungry!  Meals are served buffet-style in our main lodge or outside.  We think you will find the food to be tasty, hearty, and family-friendly!  We hope to see you soon!

Accommodations

The Riverside Suites, located near the lodge & hot tub include two private bedrooms, full bath, washer and dryer, small refrigerator, coffee maker, and hair dryer. All are within walking distance to the lodge and sit along the banks of the Little Laramie River.  The more secluded Cabins are nestled among the trees farther away from the lodge. The cabins have two to three sleeping areas and a full bathroom with a coffee maker, small refrigerator and hair dryer. Two of the cabins have cozy lofts, while the third is designed on one level.

Dining

Buffet meals are served three times a day at 8 am, noon, and 6 pm. The hearty western meals are supplemented with fresh salads, fruit, homemade breads, pastries and desserts at every meal. Menus appeal to the appetites of young and old alike with a variety of fresh salads, homemade breads, and desserts accompanying delicious main courses choices. With plenty of notice, the Vee Bar is happy to accommodate special diet requests, including (but not limited to) vegetarian and gluten-free. The John Wayne Saloon features a variety of sodas, wines, liqueurs and other alcoholic beverages.

Recreation

Horseback riding is the main scheduled activity. There are at least two rides per day, a ride in the mountains, cattle work on horseback, a gymkhana, team penning, and more. For the less enthusiastic riders in the group, there are a variety of activities to choose from. With the Little Laramie River flowing through the ranch there is more than a mile of river with great trout fishing. Don’t worry if you’ve never fly-fished before—we have a great instructor that can get you set up! One of the most beautiful places near the ranch is the Snowy Range Mountains. There will be several opportunities for guests to go to the mountains on guided hikes and fishing excursions. Other activities included in the package range from trap-shooting to geology tours to river tubing. The activities do not stop at dinner-time. In the evenings guests can take a wagon ride through the Vee Bar Meadows, watch a sheep herding demonstration and participate in the Vee Bar’s version of a stampede race (not on horses!). Later in the week, guests can camp after a delicious dinner on the range, or come back to their cozy cabin to spend the night. On several nights guests can enjoy local musical entertainment. The beauty of it is that all the activities are included, and guests can do as much or as little as you like. Activities are designed with families in mind and can be tailored to suit your group—family, single, couple, etc.
