Ranch Information

Welcome to Crossed Sabres Ranch, established in 1898, and located a short 8 miles from the east entrance to Yellowstone. Our location provides guests easy access to one of our nation’s most dramatic national parks. You also have the opportunity to experience many other activities such as the famous Cody Night Rodeo which takes place every night during the summer months. For the outdoor lover, the ranch sits on the banks of the North Fork of the Shoshone River, home to world class fly fishing and coveted Yellowstone cutthroat trout. Sitting within the 2.2  million acre Shoshone National Forest, guests can experience an abundance of wildlife viewing opportunities without stepping a foot off the ranch. Crossed Sabres Ranch has a comfortable main lodge, a western saloon, and 19 cabins situated around Libby Creek, which casually meanders through the ranch property. Whether you head out for an all-day horseback ride, spend your day reeling in monster trout, or simply relax on your front porch to the sounds of Libby Creek, Crossed Sabres Ranch is sure to create lasting memories and the vacation of a lifetime for you and your family.

Accommodations

Crossed Sabres Ranch offers western ranch living with modern amenities to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Our one or two bedroom cabins have carpeted floors, private bathrooms, electric heat, and front porches with log furniture to enjoy the grandeur of our western landscape. To enhance your western experience and allow you to fully enjoy our beautiful setting, all of our cabins are free of both telephones (both landline and mobile as we have no cell service) and television. Your cabin will be cleaned once daily by our staff to provide fresh towels and linens if needed.

The heart of Crossed Sabres Ranch is our 6000 square foot lodge which consists of a spacious dining room with hardwood tables and chairs, the Libby Creek Saloon, office, ranch store, kitchen, and reading room. The dining room is where meals are served three times daily (except for cookout nights down at the pavilion!) and where the square dance takes place on Tuesday night. We clear out all tables and chairs to make a great open space to host everyone for dancing. The ranch store is the perfect place to get duded out western-style with Crossed Sabres Ranch shirts, jackets, and riding gloves, in addition to hats, chinks, t-shirts, hoodies, mugs, artwork and more.

For a nice cold drink after a long day or to share stories of your adventures and socialize, head on into the saloon. Our bar is always stocked with an assortment of local brews and standard beers, in addition to a selection of hard liquors and wines. A staff member is often on-hand to make up a good cocktail, or feel free to walk behind the bar and fix the drink yourself. A pool table and Foosball are available for everyone, as well as a diverse collection of board games and playing cards. For those chilly mornings, a wood stove will be roaring early in the morning so you can start your day in comfort.

Need some quiet time during your vacation? Head into the reading room to enjoy a book or select one from our library to read for the week. A computer with limited internet connection is available for as-needed use to check flight updates, weather, or stay in touch via email. Please note it is not for any music or video streaming and that there is no wi-fi service to connect to from your phone. Our office also has a landline that is available for your use as needed. If you have someone that needs to get in touch with you, they can call the ranch and we will be more than happy to take a message to pass on to you.

Dining

While at the ranch, you certainly won’t be going hungry. Our hearty western ranch cuisine is sure to keep you going as you experience everything the ranch has to offer.

Wake up to a western breakfast and freshly brewed, locally roasted coffee to fuel up for your big day ahead. A scrumptious breakfast bar is set up in the lodge each morning. Then, take a break midday for a cowboy lunch with various sandwiches and sides.

Dinner is the social meal. Beginning with h’orderves, you’ll recap the day’s events in a casual environment as you enjoy a western dinner in the dining room. When you’re not enjoying meals in the lodge, you’ll be feasting outside by the crackling campfire. What cowboy doesn’t love fajitas made on an open campfire? While eating outside, you can take in the beautiful weather and huge mountain views. But make sure to leave room! Delectable desserts are made daily and served after dinner.

Find yourself hungry in between meals? Dig into our bottomless cookie jar filled with cookies made fresh daily, or grab some fruit and granola.

Crossed Sabres is able to accommodate most food allergies. Please contact us ahead of time so that we can ensure the right food can be provided.

Recreation

From trail riding to world class fly fishing, a night at the Cody rodeo, rafting, a Yellowstone tour, and much more, we work to create a vacation that is as fast-paced or relaxed as you would like it to be. A typical stay at the ranch will be centered around horseback riding. Our riding caters to your skill level and desires:  be it a lesson in our arena, a short morning or afternoon ride, or an all-day ride with a packed lunch to explore beautiful meadows and high mountain views. We encourage families to spend time together, however we do offer a kids program.
